Your search stays yours
Privacy Policy
How we collect, use, and protect the information behind your job search.
Last updated: November 8, 2026
Overview
Layoff Lift ("we," "us," or "our") is where you look for roles the big boards do not list, keep every application in one place, and write for the job in front of you. This policy explains what we collect when you use the site, why we keep it, who else is allowed to process it, and how you can ask for it back or have it removed.
What we collect
We take what the product needs to run your search. We do not collect extra profile fields for their own sake.
- Account. Your name, email, and the sign-in secret you choose. That is enough to know the account is yours.
- Search. Saved roles, alert rules, companies you follow, and the stages and notes in your tracker, so The Hiring Web and smart alerts can stay relevant.
- Writing. Resume details and letter drafts, including the opening they were written for. On Comeback, that material is what a tailored resume and a letter are built from.
- Usage. Pages opened, tools used, and the general path of a session, so we can see what helps a search and what gets in the way.
- Technical. Device, browser, and IP address, used for security and for a plain count of how the product is used.
We do not sell your information. We do not use it to advertise to you. We do not pass your resume, your letters, or your tracker to employers, recruiters, or anyone who wants them for their own outreach. You apply, and you write to people, yourself.
How we use it
Your information is there to do the work you came for:
- Surface roles on The Hiring Web and send a smart alert when one fits.
- Keep the tracker accurate: what you saved, what you sent, and what is still open.
- Draft a resume and a letter aimed at one role, so the first read is about that job and not a generic file.
- Show hiring intelligence for a role you choose: a recruiter and a hiring manager, sometimes a teammate close to the work, with a LinkedIn path so you can reach them. We do not message those people for you.
- Keep the account secure, block abuse, and repair what breaks.
- Tell you about your plan, a renewal, or a change that affects the service.
Access inside Layoff Lift is limited to people who need it to support you or to operate the product.
Retention
We keep personal information while your account is open and the data still serves your search. Saved roles, alerts, tracker notes, and drafts remain until you delete them or you close the account. After you delete the account, we delete or anonymize that personal data within a reasonable period. A narrow set of records may stay where the law, a tax rule, or a payment dispute requires it, including proof that a subscription was billed.
Security
We protect data with encryption in transit and at rest, restricted access, and routine security practice. No system is faultless. If we learn of an incident that affects your information, we will act on it and tell you when we should.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to:
- Show you the personal data we hold
- Correct what is inaccurate
- Delete it
- Export it in a portable format
- Object to or limit certain processing
- Withdraw consent where we rely on consent
Write to legal@layofflift.com. We will respond within a reasonable time. Alert rules, tracker notes, and drafts can also be changed or removed from the account itself.
Changes
When this policy changes, the new version is posted on this page and the date above moves with it. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will also say so by email or in the product. Continuing to use Layoff Lift after that update means you accept the revised policy.
